Allison Chinchar works as a forecaster of weather for CNN and HLN. She often appears on CNN's HLN Weekend Express and CNN International's HLN New Day Weekend. Prior to being hired by CNN in June 2015 she worked as meteorologist for the local station in Atlanta, Nashville, and Chattanooga, Tennessee. She's covered everything from blizzards to hurricanes as well as flooding and wildfires. In fact, she received an Emmy nod for her reporting of Hurricane Dorian that hit the Bahamas in the year 2019. Then she reported on in the Super Tornado Outbreak of April 2011, when more than 350 tornadoes hit in the Southeastern United States in just four days. Over 200 on the 27th. Her background as an environmental researcher has allowed her to cover stories on climate change and natural disasters, such as volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and more. Chinchar holds a bachelor's degree in Science in Atmospheric Science. She graduated from The Ohio State University. She is a member of numerous organizations, such as those of the American Meteorological Society and Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society.
